The EFCC alleged that Naira Marley and his accomplices conspired to used different ATM cards to defraud victims. The EFCC also said that the defendant possessed and used counterfeit credit cards belonging to different people, with intent to defraud others.
Azeez Fashola, a.k.a Naira Marley was accused of cybercrime and the trial of famous musician, was fixed yesterday, Tuesday, November 30, at the Federal High Court in Lagos, following the absence of a witness for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission prosecuting the case, IgbereTV reports.
The second prosecution witness in the case, Augustine Anosike, a forensic analyst concluded his evidence-in-chief on October 27, was scheduled for cross-examination on Tuesday.
At today’s proceeding, however, the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, told the court that the witness was absent in court on “compassionate grounds”.
The court subsequently adjourned till November 30, 2021, for cross-examination.
Marley is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud. He pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when he was arraigned on May 20, 2019.
Fans of the artist are blasting the EFCC for the accusation labeled against the musician and they are asking that they let the musician go about his activities, give Nigerian youths a break from false accusations and possibly go out to hunt politicians who on a daily steal from the country.
