President Tinubu Orders Manhunt For Plateau Killers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the recent killings in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and parts of Benue State. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Dele Alake, the president condemned the acts of violence and expressed his sadness and grief. He called the ongoing reprisal attacks and bloodshed in the affected communities “very depressing” and urged the governments of Plateau and Benue States, as well as emergency response agencies, to provide immediate relief and support to the displaced victims.

President Tinubu reiterated his government’s commitment to eradicating violent crimes and all forms of criminal activity throughout Nigeria. He called upon community leaders, religious leaders, traditional rulers, socio-cultural organizations, and various prominent groups to collaborate in fostering genuine and enduring peace, rebuilding trust, and restoring harmony in the conflict-stricken areas. The president highlighted the tragic loss of innocent lives, including that of an eight-month-old baby in Farin Lamba community, emphasizing the need for tolerance and forgiveness to establish vibrant, peaceful, and prosperous communities. The statement was titled ‘Plateau Killings: We Must Break This Cycle of Violence.’
