Why should monkeys be seen entering people’s houses? Zoos are meant to entertain and educate the public but have a strong emphasis on scientific research and species conservation. There is a trend toward giving animals more space and recreating natural habitats, having to keep animals without properly taking care of them is not necessary. Why keep these animals when you can’t feed them. It is very dangerous as some of them may turn out to be very aggressive and unfriendly.
Residents at Lekki are lamenting over the invasion of monkeys into their homes, these monkeys make their way in to their kitchens destroy things and eat their food. A video was shown about a monkey in someone’s kitchen eating her bread and another video of a monkey jumping around someones kitchen looking for food.
People in charge of the Lekki conservation centre should look into this, take care of them, so they stop making people uncomfortable and scared in their own homes. Its is really exhausting chasing these monkeys, feeding them and avoiding not getting hurt by them. so the residents are pleading that the people in charge should do something about this.
